The Bavarian manufacturer is actively working on a new roadster, which will be designed on the same platform as the Toyota Supra. However, the company BMW deny the similarity of new items with the Japanese sports car. Today there is only a conceptual version of the new BMW Z4.

According to Mark Werner, General Director of BMW Group Australia, the new Z4 model is “extremely driving”. He also stressed that they chose Toyota as a partner in order to save money.

Werner said that the development of any new car usually costs several million dollars, and now there is a tendency to reduce the roadster segment, this applies not only to the Bavarian company, but also to other leading manufacturers. This was the main reason why the Bavarians merged with Toyota.

Werner promises a completely unique design for new items. However, the uniqueness is not only in design, but also in the management and driving characteristics that will be endowed with the car.

Also, many experts claim that the new Z4 will differ from the Japanese car in its premium. Bavarians will be able to achieve this with very high quality finishing materials, as well as with the new iDrive infotainment system.

When asked about the possible similarity of the final result with the Supra, such as the Toyota GT86 and the Subaru BRZ, the official said that it would be much more difficult to identify the connection between these two models. He also said that we should expect a completely unique product from BMW.
