Back in the Soviet Union, four basic short designations for automotive lamps manufactured in the territory were adopted:

• BUTКГ (such designation had quartz lamps of halogen type);

• AM (this designation was characterized by miniature types);
• BUT (so simple components for vehicles differed).

As was customary, these abbreviations continued with figures indicating the number of the developers and the power of the device. It should be noted that these inscriptions or their abbreviations can now be seen only on old domestic vehicles. To date, these ciphers do not apply, because they have a significant disadvantage - the lack of designation of a certain type of lamp.

Car lamps on the base

Today in the car market you can see products with different designations. New cipher rules are adopted according to the world-famous ECE standard. To distinguish between products such ciphers and abbreviations are used:

• W (devices containing glass elements);
• T (miniature light bulbs);
• R (constructions characterized by nineteen millimeter diameter flasks with fifteen millimeter diameters of the base);
• H (halogen lighting fixtures);
• Y (the presence of such an inscription indicates to buyers the orange color of the flask).

• BA (products with a pin-type base installed);
• W (made of glass) Contacts from the wire out through the flask. Used for car gateways;
• P (the presence in the device of a special flange base) Inside there is a special lens that directs the lighting to a given area. Located in the spotlights, street lamps, navigation lights, etc .;
• E (sign, indicates that the element has a threaded surface) Very popular with consumers. At the first time of using the product with such a base were of the incandescent type, now they go as energy-saving;
• BAY (indicates the presence of a pin-type cap);
• BAZ (the detail belongs to a number of pins, but it has some displacements of pins in the radius);

• c - pin special form;
• a - cylindrical;
