In the autumn of 2017, sales of a new generation, ultra-compact crossover from the Kia began in South Korea. Trade name of the car - Stonic - is a mixture of two English words: speedy (rapid) and tonic (tonic). According to Kia marketers, these expressions can best describe the agility, maneuverability and fresh appearance of the new crossover.

The release date of the new Kia Stonik 2017–2018 (photo below) is published on June 20, 2017; the place is the International Frankfurt Motor Show. Almost a month later, on July 13 of the same year, a mini-crossover was presented at home. Visitors to the event, held in South Korea, noted the similarity of the Kia Stonic with the Kona model from Hyundai. However, there is no need to talk about plagiarism: both brands belong to the Hyundai single family and, quite likely, were developed by one team of specialists.

The new Kia Stonic 2017–2018 (photo below) will be produced on the already well-proven fourth-generation platform Rio. The same applies to the design of the cabin, almost completely copied from the unfading Rio. Stonik will be the smallest crossover in the manufacturer's lineup, inferior in size to Niro, Sportage and Sorento.

According to the designers, Kia, Stonik 2017–2018 will be the most customer-oriented model in the entire history of the company. The buyer will be offered, in addition to the three configuration options, a lot of accessories that complement the appearance of the mini-crossover.
