The increase in the number of cars in cities leads to the fact that the number of parking spaces or parking places is significantly reduced. In large localities, it is sometimes necessary to spend 15-20 minutes during the search for free space. This state of affairs sometimes forces car owners to ignore signs prohibiting parking. When installing signs prohibiting parking and stopping, the traffic police are guided by certain rules that allow you to clearly and unambiguously regulate the traffic situation. Thus it is possible to provide the result:

• the threat of traffic safety is not allowed;
• there are no obstacles to the free movement of pedestrians and vehicles;
• there is no violation of traffic rules by vehicles forced to drive around the wrong parked car.

Considering the difference between the signs of prohibition of parking and stopping, it is necessary to take into account that in the first case it is forbidden to stop moving, and in the second - the action of the sign allows dropping speed to 0 km / h, but the driver should not leave his vehicle for long. A round sign with one red crossed out line at an angle will not allow a long parking lot, and if there are two crossed red lines in the circle, the prohibition is set not only on the parking lot, but also on the stop.

Both signs have several established areas of coverage:

The signs prohibiting parking with arrows can be easily deciphered:

• Arrow pointing up. It may be depicted without add-ons or have a fixed distance in meters. Indicates that a restricted area begins at the installation point.
• Bilateral arrows. Mutually directed up / down arrows in the complex with a sign indicate the continuation of the ban on stopping or parking.
• The arrow is pointing down. The sign informs about the end of the zone of the ban on stopping or parking.

The rules of the road provide another type of sign that describes a zone with parking restrictions. Unlike the traditional round pointer, this rectangle is endowed with a couple of features:

• its action is not limited to the interval to the nearest intersection, and the general zone of influence can even extend into blocks ahead or to a whole urban area
• the end of the pointer is signaled by a new informant installed: “End of parking zone”;
• the mark may have an addition in the form of a time limit specified in hours.
