Somewhere by mid-2018, Avtovaz plans to present to the mass public a compact crossover designed on the platform Lada Kalina, which, as already announced, will gradually withdraw from the market. Avtovaz workers are going to optimize the current product line: among the low-end models, the most affordable for poor Russians, especially in a crisis, they will surely leave Lada Grant with its possible variations in the same price segment. Today, Grant is already in many ways competing with Kalina, although the latter is much more expensive. And the second direction of Avtovaz will be to reorient from budget models to a higher level client. And the start of this movement has recently been given the launch of sales of Vesta and Ixray. 
Experts believe that new compact crossover AVTOVAZ is unlikely to become a full-fledged all-wheel drive car. Surely it will be the usual parquet SUV with a little more increased ground clearance than the Kalina, externally honed under the SUV. In the presence of Lada 4x4 on a compact crossover is unlikely to be in great demand. 
AVTOVAZ has recently stepped up work on the introduction of additional functionality into the already finished models. For example, it became known that soon luxury models Grants and Kalina robotized transmissions will get a hold when lifting. The lift assistance assistant will allow the vehicle to not roll back when the driver, stopping on a hill, starts to get under way. At the moment, such an assistant is installed only on Vesta.
