Established standards

Practically in all countries of the world there are standards regulating the method of installation and the power of the power of DRL lamps. There are global rules described in modern documents.

It is important to know that the geometrical parameters according to which DRLs should be established are strictly regulated by the rules of the road and the state standard. Otherwise threatens a fine.

Under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Regulation N87 of 2011, parameters have been introduced for the running lights on cars produced. At this rate, the occupied area of ​​such optics is in the range of 25–200 cm.². The radiation power should be in the range of 400-1200 cd.

Russian traffic rules also limit the area. It must be at least 40 cm². Allowable radiation must be in the range of 400-800 cd. This is described in GOST R 41.48-200.

There is a strict orientation in the case of positioning optics. The minimum distance from the road surface is 250 mm. The maximum height is 1500 mm. The allowable minimum between the lights (right and left) must be maintained within 600 mm. From each side angle, a distance of 400 mm must not be exceeded.

If any of the parameters is not met, then the road inspector has the right to determine the punishment for this fault. The fine will be the same as for unlit lights - 500 rubles.

It should be noted that the type of light source is not specified in the standards. There is only the norm in its light power.
