Different vibrations while driving a car are often perceived by drivers as something completely natural. However, in most cases, they indicate various breakdowns, and in no case should they be ignored. One of the most common problems is the beating or vibration of the steering wheel.
As a rule, this problem begins to occur at high speeds of eighty kilometers per hour, more often at a speed of 100-120 km / hour. However, depending on the type and quality of the road surface, as well as the nature of the machine’s malfunctions, the beating can also occur at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour, when braking, turning, or starting traffic.
The causes of steering vibration at speed, as a rule, are:
- The discrepancy between the dimensions of the hub and the center hole of the rim. This problem most often occurs due to the replacement of original discs with analogues from other manufacturers.
- Improper tightening of bolts and wheel nuts.
- Violation of the balancing discs and tires as a result of damage or factory production.
- Malfunction or wear parts of the chassis or suspension of the car.
Of course, in different models, vibrations and steering beats can occur for quite different reasons, which depend on the design features. However, since nothing fundamentally new in the design of cars has been around for quite a few years, there are a number of reasons for the emergence of beats and vibrations of the steering wheel in various car brands - VAZ, Renault, Audi, BMW, Ford, etc.

The emergence of beats and vibrations when cornering
Vibrations of the steering wheel when cornering, as a rule, indicate that silent blocks or hinges of equal angular speeds have failed. In case of failure of the struts, during the turn you can hear the characteristic crunch. Therefore, during the repair it is necessary to check the hub bearings. In order to avoid malfunction of the suspension system, it is necessary to regularly inspect all parts.
One of the early signs of such a problem can be the crash of the anthers, as well as the appearance of cracks in them. In this case, the anthers need to be replaced.
If sand or dirt got into anthers, they should be cleaned with a solution of gasoline.
The discrepancy between the dimensions of the hub and the center hole of the wheel
Quite often, when changing wheels, drivers get not original parts, but cheaper counterparts. Unfortunately, the central hole in the wheel often turns out to be larger than the diameter of the hub, which means that the disc will not sit tight.
The effect of this deficiency may occur only under load, and may not occur at low speeds. In order to eliminate the vibration and beating of the steering wheel in this case, you can try using special gaskets, or simply replace the wheels.
