At the Geneva auto forum in 2013, a lot of interesting new products were presented, even Opel released a lot of new and playful things, but today we’ll talk about Opel Adam Rocks, which is distinguished by its compact size, while it has the makings of an SUV. A year before the start of the presentation, the concept was presented, and already in Geneva 2013, the serial version of the Opel Adam Rocks was released.

Exterior design

New Opel Adam Rocks It was created on the basis of the standard Opel Adam, the only difference is that Rocks had a wider track, increased clearance by 15 mm., wheel arches became wider, special light-alloy wheels and body kits of black unpainted plastic were installed.

In the basic configuration installed 17-inch wheels, and in the top - 18. The most important feature of this car is that the Adam Rocks, as well as the concept car, which was introduced in 2012, is made in the back of a convertible.

It was noticed that the appearance of the Opel Adam Rocks is almost no different from the conceptual version of the car. A wide color palette is available for this car - 18 colors for the body and 6 colors for the hard parts of the roof and 3 colors for the fabric part of the roof. The standard equipment of the car includes LED headlights in front and behind.

Main competitor Opel Adam Rocks Citroen DC is considered, they are even something very similar, the exterior design of these cars looks defiant - they, despite their compact dimensions, have large wheels, a lot of plastic is used in the body, these cars were created for one target audience.

Interior Design

Salon turned out not as expressive as the appearance, but you can not call it boring. As it should be for a compact crossover-cabriolet, it is designed for 2 people - the driver and the passenger, although there is a small bench in the rear part of the cabin, but there it is cramped.

On the front seats is lateral support and on the backside, and on the cushions. The seats easily perform their function - they provide comfort to the passenger and driver, despite their complexion. Of course, this car's dimensions are distinguished by their compactness, therefore there is not as much free space in the cabin as we would like. It may even seem to tall people that there is very little space, so for a comfortable ride you need to be no higher than 185 cm. With the width, the same things as with the length, there is not enough space if you are a very fat person.

The front panel is made in 2 colors and it looks quite beautiful. On the center console there is a rather large LCD display of the multimedia system, with which you can control many functions of the machine, and you can also see the rear view on it.

What is good about this car is that the multimedia system can work with mobile devices that run on Android and iOS. Audio system with 7 speakers, and the whole multimedia system IntelliLink is an additional option. The buttons for controlling the functions are located to the left and right of the display, and under the screen is the climate control unit. There is one more display, its dimensions are much smaller, so it easily fit on the instrument panel, between the speedometer and the tachometer.

The car's interior is decorated with a multifunctional steering wheel of the original form. More expensive versions of the Opel Adam Rocks crossover contain leather trim with beautiful bright stitching on the chairs. It is possible to choose the color of the cabin to your liking from a large set of different colors.

Powertrain and other characteristics

For this compact crossover, various motors are available with a capacity from 70 to 115 liters. with. power. What is good with these engines, in addition to environmental friendliness, is that they have very low fuel consumption. 115-horsepower engine consumes 4.5 liters of fuel in the combined cycle.

1-liter engines work in tandem with modern mechanics at 6 speeds. For other engines put a 5-speed manual gearbox, which stands in the Opel Corsa.

All specifications are very similar to the characteristics of the standard Opel Adam hatchback, everywhere use the same parts and components. The difference is that for the off-road version, the steering and suspension were reconfigured, especially the rear suspension was adapted for off-road driving.

All these changes have allowed the off-road version of the Opel Adam Rock to better behave on and off the road, the car has become better controlled. But despite all this, this car will not cope with serious off-road, primer, snow, sand is easy, but to go up the hill on wet ground may seem a serious problem. So, Adam Rocks' off-road performance ends with the appearance of the car, which is a bit like an SUV, but this is only outwardly.

Moreover, the car uses such a platform, which does not allow to equip the car with four-wheel drive, but as you know, there is nothing to do without all-wheel drive, so this crossover can only be cut around the city, in city parking lots near shopping centers it will be very convenient . It’s good to ride a cabriolet in summer, but in winter, for example, it will be cool to drive this car.

Who would suit such a machine

Opel Adam Rocks was originally great for European residents who appreciate compact cars. In our country, this car is unlikely to achieve at least some popularity, even take the usual Opel Adam hatchback, its sales are low in Russia, all because of the dislike of Russian residents for compact cars. As for Europe, there these cars are sold much better. In Russia price Opel Adam Rocks starts with 814,000 rubles, and more expensive equipment will cost 924,000 rubles.

Among the competitors in this segment, there are such cars as the Citroen DC3 Cabrio and Fiat Panda Cross, which are also quite popular in Europe. The model from the Citroen does not fit the class of crossovers, and the Fiat crossover can be equipped with all-wheel drive, unlike the Opel Adam Rocks.
