Jeep decided to postpone the release date of the new generation of the Grand Cherokee SUV for 2018 or even 2019. As the company's CEO Mike Manley said, this decision was made for additional analysis and modification of the platform for the car. The same architecture will receive a model Grand Wagoneer. Previously it was assumed that the car Jeep Grand Cherokee new generation will be presented in 2017.
In addition, in June, it became known that Jeep had begun to develop a charged version of the Grand Cherokee SUV. The car received a prefix in the name Trackhawk and will go on sale in 2017.
According to a source inside the company, the project only recently received a "green" light, but Jeep engineers have already begun testing the prototype of the new product. The car is equipped with a 6.2-liter gasoline engine HEMI V8. The same unit is installed on the Dodge Charger SRT Challenger and Hellcat.
Engine power will be 707-horsepower. The motor will work in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Up to 100 km / h the SUV will accelerate in 3 seconds. The maximum speed will be 321 kilometers per hour.
A cheaper version of the SUV will get a 6.4-liter V8 engine. The power of this motor will be 475 horsepower. Up to 100 km / h, the car can accelerate in just over 4 seconds. Maximum speed - 275 kilometers per hour.
