New french Renault Alaskan pickup was officially introduced yesterday to the global auto community in Colombia. The concept car of this model has been known to everyone since September 2015. The developers did not lie then: the serial pickup was not much different, at least outwardly, from last year’s show car. Renault Alaskan pickup is a global model of the French car industry, while its sales start in Latin America, since it is this country that leads in demand for such “trucks”, and in the future the pickup will arrive in European countries. 
Clearing Alaska exceeds that of the famous Japanese Mitsubishi L200 by three centimeters and is 230 mm. The standard assembly will be sold on sixteen "rollers", but the wheel arches are designed for eighteen inch wheels, available in other trim levels of the pickup.
Under the hood Renault Alaskan registered a 2.3-liter diesel with two turbines. Depending on the force, he can give both 160 and 190 horses. Instead of the traditional spring rear suspension, a five-lever is used here, which makes less noise and vibrates, improving the ride comfort and without diminishing the off-road advantages of the model. 
For car markets of other countries Renault Alaskan it will be equipped with a gasoline engine 160-horsepower of 2.5 liters, and the same volume of diesel with the power of "Latin American" 2.3-liter diesel - 160 and 190 "horses".
Renault Alaskan load capacity exceeds one ton, and this is its main advantage over other cars in the segment. Available as a front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive version. Moreover, the four-wheel drive is connected in two modes: in one mode, you can switch automatically at speeds of up to 60 km per hour (if the traffic control system “suspects” poor road holding), and in the other to switch to 4x4 the driver will need to stop. 
A six-speed and seven-speed automatic transmission is used as a transmission.
In the number of electronic assistants Renault Alaskan can be called a start system during ascent, as well as during descent, ABS with increased braking, exchange rate stabilization.
Engine Renault Alaskan it can be started from a button, the pickup is equipped with a circular camera, a multimedia unit with a seven-inch touchscreen and a built-in navigator, an audio system (it is equipped with either four or six stereo speakers), a multifunction steering wheel, armchairs with manual or electric adjustment, dual-zone climate control.

The French are confident in the undoubted success of the model. Moreover, Renault analysts predict a large increase in demand for plain pickups over the next three years.
The French already have their first successes in the pickup truck segment: the Renault Duster Oroch, a “half-ton” recently released in circulation, already two months after the start of sales, took leading positions in Colombia, Argentina and Brazil.
In addition to Renault, other manufacturers are also focusing on pickups: by the end of 2016, a single-color pickup will release Mercedes-Benz, created, like Alaskan, on the Nissan Navara platform.
