Mazda 3 MPS - the sports version of the popular “treshka” in the hatchback body, equipped with a 2.3-liter power unit with a power of 260 hp. Despite the fact that Japanese engineers managed to present fans of dynamic driving a fairly reliable and economical sports car, the model has its weak points, which will be discussed below.
The car is equipped with a durable turbocharged engine MZR 2.3 DISI Turbo, which is recommended to fill only with gasoline A-98. A high-tech power unit in case of non-observance of this condition after some time of aggressive operation can “please” the owner with the hang of the engine valves, provoked by the high tar content in the fuel. Therefore, it is recommended to refuel the car at proven gas stations.
Experts believe that the weak point of the Mazda 3 MPS is the fuel pump, which, under conditions of high pollution of our roads, quickly becomes unusable and requires replacement. This task is not an easy one, since it requires dismantling the fuel tank. The problem is that in the floor of the Mazda 3 MPS there is a too small hatch that does not allow to solve the problem in a simpler way, so you have to completely remove the tank and only replace it.
In some MPS vehicles, the rumble of the intake manifold flaps can also be heard, which over time leads to a change in its geometry. Fortunately, this occurs infrequently, and in unsuccessful models, this part is subject to warranty conditions.
The Mazda 3 MPS comes with a reasonably reliable suspension, but a suspension system designed for more civilized roads can give the owner of a “charged” hatchback certain problems. Among the most typical for sports "treshki" problems note:See also: Why a gas cylinder can explode on a car
- The unreliability of the nuts, fixing the stabilizer. These elements, as a rule, fail at 80,000 km already.
- Creaking silent blocks with aggressive suspension operation. Partially eliminate the problem by periodically sprinkling parts with a special lubricant, but the problem can be solved only by replacing components with new ones.
- Weak support bearings front struts. In the conditions of our roads, the replacement of these parts of the front suspension may be needed after 60,000 km.
In general, the sports version of the Mazda 3 boasts quite a decent suspension that can withstand the rally driving style.
The car comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, which is characterized by endurance with moderately active use. But given that the owners of the Mazda 3 MPS shift gears much more intensively than the category of “calm” drivers, the box is inevitably subjected to excessive loads, which is why after 50,000 km it is possible that the gearshift synchronizers will fail.
As for the clutch, when driving dynamically, the owner of the Mazda 3 MPS needs to be prepared for such a problem as the main cylinder flow. The petals of the diaphragm spring element are also relatively often deformed.
Of course, all the above "sores" are unlikely to appear all at once in one car. Most experts agree that the sports version of the “treshka”, as well as the “family” model, completed with 1.6 and 2.0 liters engines, demonstrates the reliability and proper operation of all components. However, in fairness it should be noted weak points that are most likely to manifest in every car, namely: rust on the trunk lid, the appearance of condensate in the rear lights and the breaking of the fog lights at temperature loads. But these are mere trifles compared to those emotions that are given by flawless handling and acceleration to 100 km / h in 6.1 seconds.See also: Car loans or consumer loans: which is better?
