The state organization to which the car owner should apply if he lost his driver's license is the traffic police. The process of replacing the rights is stretched for some time period, during which the driver receives a temporary permit, which allows him to control the transport. The term of such permission is one month. Obtaining this permission is possible only after payment of the state duty, the amount of which, starting in 2016, is equal to the amount of 800 rubles.

Another option for replacing lost driver's documents can be a situation without an intermediate stage of issuing a temporary permit to drive a motor vehicle, when after paying a fine, the driver becomes the owner of new rights after a short period of time, just a few days. It should be said that such an ideal situation is rather the exception and occurs very rarely during periods of minimal workload of the traffic police department.

Required documents

For the new issue of rights in case of their loss, according to the current legislation, the citizen is obliged to submit the following list of documents to the traffic police:

• a statement of their loss;
• a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation or any other document that can serve as a certificate of his identity;
• a card indicating that the person was learning to drive;
• Photo;
• receipts confirming payment for the issuance of new driver's documents.

If until February 2016, a medical certificate was also required when recovering lost driver's documents, then after this period it is no longer required. The need for such a certificate arises only after the ten-year period of use of the old driver's license.

Payment of state duty

As for the amount of fees, in order to obtain rights on paper, the amount of such payment will be 400 rubles. If the driver's documents are made of plastic, then the amount of duty will be twice as much and you will need 800 rubles for the plastic document, and therefore it should be noted that since March 2011 in the Russian Federation all driver's licenses are issued only in plastic. Also from July 1, 2017, the amount of state duty for issuing a driver new rights is equal to 3,000 rubles.

When the problem arises of restoring lost driver's licenses, many drivers have a concern about the need to pass new exams, but in this case it is not necessary to pass such exams. Just after all the necessary list of documents has been collected and submitted to the traffic police, the driver will only have to wait for the moment of issuing new rights to him, in which the “Duplicate” entry will be made in the section on special marks. There are no other differences from the previously lost driver's license in the new document.

  The issuance of a new driver's license is made only in the region where the driver has a permanent or temporary registration. Otherwise, he will be required to pass the exam with the payment of the corresponding state duty.
